If the United States is not the best place on the planet to live what is?
Liberals past experience has taught me that you will need this spelled out in very simple terms or you won't get it so here I go. Please notice that I did not express my own opinion here. The question did not state that the USA IS the best merely that if you would rather live somewhere else where would it be. So save the Self-righteous lectures for someone who believes you

- The US is the best nation in world history, period.
- The United States is absolutely the BEST place in the world. We just think it can and should be better. Keeping it liberal since 1776.
- Israel! Hey...I can live off your tax dollars (and right wing fund raisers) and I dont even have to serve in their military because I'm not Jewish! Yipee! I was just joking silly-billys...the favorite place I would like to live is Jena, Louisiana
- Australia is the last frontier. But honestly, I think Martha Reeves said it best, when she wailed, " no place to run to baby, no place to hide."
- I am satisfied with the US and wish the ones who lived here who hated this country would go to wherever they think would be better. I'm really tired of people always trying to "change" the US.
- CANADA Byitches! Public Health care, booming economy, abundant resources, beautiful landscape, safer cities what does the US have that we don't?
- I don't see how its any better or worse than any industrialized country in europe. Then again at least in most of europe theres socialized healthcare.
- The U.S. and some Eurpopean nations seem to have the highest standards of living... depends on what your looking for... and saying "this needs to be spelled out in very simple terms" and calling us "self-rightous" is FAR from not having an "opinion"... but I'm starting to learn that conservatives really don't have a clue what the word "opinion" means... according to the way they use it... and... don't conservatives try to change the U.S? or are you happy with the huge government, welfare and current tax system? oh, it doesn't count when you cry... I forgot...
- There is no such thing as "the best place on Earth to live". No matter how nice of a place you live in liberals will always find something to complain about. Even in the most tranquil place.
- Depending on which studies you look at that compare countries, and what characteristics you are looking at, Norway, Canada, France, Germany, Etc are all places that usually rank higher than us in various areas. "Best" really just means best for the individual. It's all subjective. What's the best place for me might not be the best place for you. To say that your country is the best that has ever or will ever exist is nationalistic and ignorant. It is the same kind of rhetoric that was used by the Nazis and Communists. The best form of national pride is to recognize your faults, but accept that no ones perfect and to say "that's what makes us, us!"
- First, spare us all your implication that Liberals are stupid. Anybody who supports a President like George W. Bush is in no position to imply that others just cannot see the obvious. The answer to your question is the west coast of Canada, an area that has a climate similar to Seattle and Portland. In addition to a representative democracy and the requisite freedom of expression the Canadians have a working national health care system, better public education and domestic handgun control. Many Americans have already voted with their feet, and moved to the Vancouver Island area. Their despair of ever achieving a genuine democracy of, by and for the people is understandable, but not even the current round of svage regressives will be enough to destroy the United States of America. Democracy will prevail, and the viscious Joe McCarthy wannabes of the current Republican leadership will be relegated to the trash heaps of history along with the pathetic and corrupt Harding and Buchanan administrations. It is up to those of us who remain to reject the partisan bullies and headhunters, and to insist on a return to respect in our public life. Frankly, Great Britain, France, Italy, Denmark, Norway and Sweden also are good places with better social services. We think we are better because we are willing to listen to the lies we tell ourselves. Hopefully, Jesus will save America from His followers so we can act like Christians ourselves.
- Everyone believes that their own country is the best place to live. I've been fortunate enough to live in many places all over the world and there are things I love and things I disliked about each. Therefore I would like a combination of all of my favourites (yes, part of which includes the US).
- Belgium and the Netherlands have legalized prostitution, gay marriage. and they almost never get into trouble on the International stage because no one cares(too small) one way or another what they do.Belgium has the best food in the world and that's important to me,the whole French cuisine is a ripoff of Belgian traditions I like it here just fine where people don't feel the need to chant we're number one all the time.If you have to say something all the time over and over it is often a sign you are not trying to convince the other but yourself
- The U.S. in the best. If you don't think so, get the hell out!
- USA is a big beautiful red rose that it's redness is out of developing nation's blood! you can deny it and enjoy it while you can!
- Not going to answer this because "joecool123_us" hit it right on.
- Denmark
- I am a liberal, what is there to get? Can you even try to prove to me that another western developed country is significantly worse than the US in any way? America is no longer #1 in anything. We now know it doesn't have the best health care, education, incomes, equality. Nor do we make anything besides organic chemicals and agricultural products (and war). Perhaps we are #1 in becoming wealthy, but only a small percentage can do that. It is probably more likely to win the lottery in London or Paris that make it big here. What is the point? You think living in Canada is worse somehow than living in the US? Australia? New Zealand? Scandinavia? Western Europe? Even in poorer countries, if you are rich, they are far better places to live than the US.
- Have you ever lived in another country? How many countries have you visited?
- Australia, for so many reasons, I could take all day to list them. In a nutshell though, and broadly speaking: lifestlye, economic stability, very low unemployment, geographic diversity, ecological / biological diversity, climate, opportunities - vocational and educational, freedom, we want for nothing. Granted a few public services could do with a tweaking in certain areas.....but what country can't say that? I have lived in and travelled to a lot of countries and wouldn't die anywhere else, mate - Advance Australia Fair!
- I havent been to the US, but would love to visit one day. i live in Australia, and I think here would rival the US as a place to live.
- Wow. Sensitive, much? Britain.
