1. SOme would say India and Bollywood and many indie films thrive outside of Hollywood
2. Hundreds of movies have been filmed in NYC and around the world for location but most of the studio work is done in Hollywood.
3. Also, lots of films are actually shot other places than Hollywood -- Vancouver, for one. The other poster was correct about the success of Bollywood.

5. Most movies are no longer made in Hollywood. The Directors want realistic looks so movies are made everywhere now. The film in San Francisco, Miami, Denver, Las Vegas, New York and all cities in between. So I don't think it's possible to pinpoint that the best movies are made in one location anymore.
6. A lot of movies are now filmed all around the country.
