Most beautiful places in Florida?

I'm going on vacation and we are going to Miami, Florida and heading to Orlando (driving on the coast) What are some places that are really beautiful or fun that you would recommend to go to?........With kids too

  3. Hate to rain on your parade, but there just aren't any scenic routes from Miami to Orlando. Any non-freeway route you take will either be sawgrass to the horizon or nothing but strip malls. Your best bet is just go right up the turnpike, it's as "pretty" as any of the alternatives and a lot faster and safer. If you are driving north from Orlando, take I-4 East to I-95 North. Go just few exits to SR 40 East and continue until the Intracoastal Waterway. There, take a left (north) on County 4011 aka Beach Street. (Yes, I know the ocean is just over the bridge, but trust me on this.) Drive along the shady residential street and in 10 minutes you will be driving thru beautiful Tomoka State Park. Stop and picnic or rent a canoe if you have time! When the road leaves Tomoka, its name will have changed to Old Dixie Hwy; keep following it north. Not that far from Tomoka, this road passes through another State Park, the named for Bulow Plantation Ruins. As Dixie leaves Bulow Park, there is a "T" intersection with County 2002. The left (west) "branch" is a continuation of Dixie Hwy, so be alert here. You want the right (east) branch of CR2002, Walter Boardman Lane. The "to beach" or "to A1A" signs are probably still there. CR2002 will jog right (south) and left (east again) before you get there; it will also go through some name changes; if you see street signs saying "John Anderson" or "Highbridge" it's OK, you're not lost. At A1A (called Oceanshore Blvd in this area), head north (left) along a beautiful stretch of Atlantic beach, much prettier than the hotels and strip malls you missed back at SR40. (If you want to spend a night in tiny Flagler Beach, I recommend the Topaz Hotel. Be sure to see the antique cars out back.) You can continue on A1A as far as historic St. Augustine. In that city, Anastasia State Park is the best place for one last day at the beach. I don't recommend driving on thru Jacksonville Beach. Traffic is horrible. Swing west to I-95. But if you are glutton for beauty, it's worth a small detour just over the state line. Drive over to St. Mary's, Georgia (exit 1) and take the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore. That is the place where wild horses run free and there are no cars or bicycles. I sure hope you have the extra time to take this, or some other, scenic route. If you buy a detailed road atlas (county roads clearly marked), you will find that Florida roads are all in good condition. Almost any tertiary, and many secondary, roads north of SR42 will be scenic, so long as you avoid major urban areas like Ocala or Ormond Beach. There is whole "real Florida" outside of Miami and Orlando, and I'd hate for you to miss it.
  4. Lovers Key, voted one of the most pristine beaches in Florida. Beautiful area, outside Ft. Myers beach.
  5. key west have lots of fun places to relax and have fun..and to have lots of fun for kids the best is busch gardens in tampa, fl in miami there isnt much for kids only beaches. go anywhere in south beach or lincoln road or ocean drive for fun for adults
  6. As you head up, be sure to see Cocoa Beach. The Space Center has a great museum and interesting exhibits, and you have to see the Ron Jon Surf Shop.
